Photo Essay | Honoring Her Presence

Amparo Giraldo Arteaga, photographed in her home in Medellín. While documenting my husband’s grandmother, I sought to honor her presence, dignity, and her wisdom shaped by years of experience. As she shared family heirlooms, old photographs passed down through generations, I was impacted by the beauty of exploring her heritage through storytelling. Creating these portraits with her remains one of the most meaningful parts of my time in Colombia.

The final image is a photo of me with my in-laws, I’m deeply grateful to have experienced Colombia through their eyes.
